"Wobbles the Mind" (wobblesthemind)

I always thought that American’s would probably like wagons more if they were known as “estates” here like they are across the creek. I also think saloon sounds super classy. I’m talking fresh scone compared to our poptart use of “sedan.” Well, why not have a neat term for all bodystyles if they work so well, right?!
Here are my proposals:
Cabriolet - Patio
Targa/Spider - Veranda
Coupe - Studio
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Repleted Sedan - Saloon
Wagon - Estate
Family Van - Demesne
Hatchback - Aerary
Liftback - Alcove
Shooting Brake - Chalet
Liftback CUV - Latrine
Hatchback CUV - Domicile
SUV - Acreage
Pickup Truck - Ranch
Just something a bit different for you to ponder over. I know if I told someone that the Chevy Sonic was available as an Aerary or the Kia Sedona is a sexy Demesne they would think those vehicles were something worth checking out, which is true!
To account for the “Outbacking” trend that is hitting sedans, hatchbacks, and wagons (namely the S60 Cross Country and V60 Cross Country), you would use the same dwelling based bodystyle identifiers with the term “Country” in front of them. So your V60 Cross Country would be a “Country Estate.” If Ferrrari decided to lift the GTC4Lusso, then it would be a “Country Chalet.”
What do you think? Sounds like money to me!

Well, Vauxhall/Opel already has the Country Tourer, so you might be onto something with the whole “Country” thing.
Sidenote: We need the Country Tourer as a submodel of the Regal. Surely they want a slice of that sweet sweet Outback/Volvo Cross Country/Allroad market?

Also, I am totally going to start using the “Latrine” terminology when I see one. Let’s see who I can convince that this is just an accepted industry term.

The problem with saloon is that it already has a well defined meaning in America-

Saloon always makes me think of some big fat awful American car. I’ve no idea why. Australians don’t use the word.
